Dr. Lilian Cameron is a researcher, educator and writer in art curating and museum studies and a Senior Interdisciplinary Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on contemporary developments in curating and the ways in which curators initiate new relationships between artists, audiences, and collections in art museums. She is currently progressing projects on contemporary developments in curating in Australia and the UK, the changing voice of textual interpretation in art museums, and on intersections between museum education philosophy and approaches to teaching and learning in university settings. She is committed to supporting entry and employability for students in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) sector and foster these pathwaths through a number of Work Integrated Learning approaches.
Lily has extensive experience teaching and researching in Australia and the UK, having arrived at the University of Sydney after a period teaching at Sotheby's Institute of Art, London, following roles at UK museums such as Tate and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, University of East Anglia.
